O.K. first a little disclosure about blogs. I don't like them, the only reason I am doing this is because everyone else I know has one and I hate to feel left out. Oh and this way we can pretend like we have an exciting life and share it with you.
I was going to start my first post with a discourse on how I can't stand bagels and answer the question of why I continue to take my family to Tals bagels despite the fact that they never do what I ask them and they are completely rude ( I mean the employees at Tals are rude not my family).
This miraculous event occurred yesterday so I am going to write about it instead. As you may or may not know New York is very expensive and nobody ever under any circumstances would give anything away for free (Seriously they would rather throw it in the trash than let someone have it for free). However yesterday we had lunch for FREE. You might now be asking yourself how is this possible in NYC? I would not have believed it myself if it hadn't happened to me.
We live near Sutton Place ( a so called ritzy area of NYC) and they had a street fair. Now a typical street fair in NYC is when they shut off a main street and allow vendors to set up camp (this causes traffic to pile up all over the city, its great I love traffic jams). At these events there is row after row of overpriced food and junk. One time Kassie bought Elyse a hot dog and the guy charged her 5 bucks. Another time Kassie wanted this African sculpture and the guy wanted $750.00 for it ( I recently bought a similar sculpture on eBay for $12). Anyways you get the idea overpriced like the rest of New York. I expected the same out this event. I tried to convince Kassie that we shouldn't bother but I lost out ( As usual). To my utter amazement everything was FREE yes I said FREE. Some the local restaurants (which are overpriced) were giving away samples of their food, we had a spread that included Dunking donuts, Häagen-Daz, Pizza, Buffalo Wings, Meatballs, Guacamole and a whole lot of other good stuff (notice I did not mention this as a healthy lunch but hey free is free). We topped our lunch off with a trip to Lindt Chocolate store on 5th Ave. and mooched some free truffles. Who said there is no such thing as a free lunch? I don't expect this to happen again (at least not in NYC)
Now a word concerning Bar Mitzvahs ( a huge party for Jewish kids when they turn 13). My friend has a business were he rents out Chocolate Fountains I have recently signed on to help them out (for a small fee of course). Last night I attended two of these parties. WOW can you say drop it like its hot, apparently when it comes to Bar Mitzvahs cash is no object. The first one I attended was on a yacht ( On Thur. I was on the Forbes family yacht, which has another smaller boat on top of it and a helicopter landing pad $$ KA CHING $$) in comparison with the Forbes yacht this thing was a floating pile of hud but I am sure it wasn't cheap. The second Bar Mitzvah I attended was at one of the nicest clubs I have ever been to (a heck of a lot nicer than Area 51 in S.L.C. a lot less scary too). They had a DJ, a desert bar with two chocolate fountains and ice sculptors with ice cream sitting in them, and a separate candy bar stocked with everything you can think of. The kids were all hopped up on sugar and the adults were hopped up on alcohol, mix in a little Britney Spears and hey you got one heck of a VERY EXPENSIVE ( at least $50,000) shin dig.
I hope you will tune in next week, maybe I will talk about old people and dogs in the city ( both are annoying in their own special ways).
