Alicia comes to NYC!! #5

Day 5 we woke up bright and early to a drizzly gray day. We headed to Ellis Island. It was so great and so nice to be able to enjoy it without children underfoot like the last time I was there.

Please study this picture before you read the text in the picture below.

If you aren't laughing then you are lame. Alicia were actually crying from laughing so hard. Thankfully it wasn't too crowded and no one was offended.

Then since I had a prior engagement, I sent my sister all alone on the subway to the MET. She got there ok but then proceeded what I like to call a typical NY day.
-She waited in line for 1/2 hour to check her stuff.
-She wasn't sure how the payment worked so she just walked right into the museum where she was stopped. She was directed to the cashier. After waiting in line she realized that her wallet was in her bag....in the coat check room.
-She haggled with the lady who let her in (begrudgingly) for free.
-Haven was getting really fussy by this time and Alicia had to use the restroom.
-By the time she had gone up and down to find the restrom, Haven was done.
-Time at MET: 1.5 hrs. Number of paintings seen: 1 (at least it was Monet)
-I told Alicia exactly where to go to catch the bus. Unfortunately for her there is also a tour bus stop in the same location. So she watched a bunch of buses pass her by (remember it's drizzling)
-So she finally gets on the right bus.
-She gets off on the right stop but as she is crossing the street she slips and falls breaking her umbrella.
-She got home and cancelled the plans we had made for later that night because she was so grumpy and tired from her day.

I feel ya sister. I feel ya.

I am very sad that she went through this experience, but it was also nice (probably not the best word) that she got to see how it REALLY is in NYC. Crappy crappy days that make you want to scream and pull your hair out, and also days that are so awesome you are so glad you live here!
