Homeschoolers ain't no dummies!

I was always one of those moms who SWORE she would NEVER and could NEVER homeschool her kids. I mean, who wants to be stuck at home all day with....the kids (dun dun dun) Well, apparently I do because we are homeschooling Elyse effective immediately.

A lot went into this decision for Can and I. The most important factor in this choice was simply that the Spirit prompted us. One of the things that I love most about the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the knowledge that we each can have direct communication with our Father in Heaven. I can know, through the spirit, those things that will lead and guide myself and my family and those things that will bless us and help us. When Can's sister, Jenny, was here in June she was telling us all about homeschooling her 4 kids (bless her heart!) I was loving it all but thinking "she's curazy!" But then the Spirit spoke to my heart so strongly that this was what we needed to do for Elyse. Gah! I was like no way, I could never! I figured that it meant next year when we move out of the city (if we don't move next year I will gouge my eyes out....mark my words) we should start. We kept feeling strongly about it and one day decided to delay no further so we pulled her out this week.

I am excited but also nervous. I know how inadequate I am to take on this task, but we have SO much faith in our decision, again through the spirit, that we know all will be well. I have already noticed how much more chill Elyse is without all of the stress that school was imposing upon her. Despite this prayers and advice will still be much appreciated!

PS Lesson was yet again learned not to delay a prompting!!

I think you'll do great. You will have to fill me in on how it goes. I have been really dreading the day I have to send Elsa to school. Sending her right off into 8 hours of Kindergarten is not sitting well with me.

I'm excited to hear how it goes. I think you would be an amazing teacher too. I'd love to hear how you balance your day and find time for yourself too. I've thought about it, but don't know if I have it in me.

That's really cool! Did you know that RJ Houston was really involved with a homeschooling community in the city? She just moved, but you could contact her about resources she used.

Good luck - I'm excited for you!

If anyone could do it, it's you Kassie! I have no doubt that you'll be extremely successful! Those sweet kiddos of yours are blessed with some amazing parents. Miss you! Keep us posted on how everything goes.

You're a smart woman who knows how to do her own learning and research, now you'll get to share that with your daughter. I'm very impressed! Good luck! I look forward to hearing all about it.

PS, I'm gonna start looking into the leaky gut thing! Thanks for the heads up on that! She's already trying to cut out gluten as much as poss. After our research and meeting with someone that knows more about these things than I do, we'll probably end up trying a very specific diet for it.
