As soon as we pulled up to Abner's farm Elyse took off her shoes. I am fine with that because she so rarely gets to take her shoes off and feel the grass in her toes. Sniff sniff. 15 minutes after we got there we hear a scream and Can comes out of the barn carrying Elyse. He tells me that she got a sliver and its bad. Well, Can and Elyse can be more than a bit dramatic when it comes to injuries so I was like yeah whatever I'll pull that sucker out. So I tried and tried but it was stuck tight....and it was super gross looking.
We took her inside where Maddie, her sister in law and I all tried again with tweezers. Luckily there was a Dr there (normally I wouldn't call that lucky but in this case it was) He came in and after much coaxing (to no avail) he finally grabbed her foot while we held her down screaming bloody murder. He yanked as hard as he possibly could and out came a huge sliver that was an inch long. Goo!! As soon as it was out she was happy as a clam but couldn't resist the attention that a bandage would get her ;)

The bandage for a teensy puncture wound. She wore it for 2 more days and loved telling the gory story to anyone who would listen.
