Secrets to a great Pregnancy

I love being pregnant. It is a miracle beyond comprehension and it makes it clear that God is our creator. I love seeing my belly grow, I love feeling the first flutters and then kicks. I LOVE the anticipation that labor holds and I love labor itself. It is SO exciting and exhilarating to push a baby out of your body, it's crazy! I love holding that baby, discovering the sex and most of all I LOVE to nurse. There is nothing better.

I don't get that sick the first trimester and feel pretty great for the other two. My first two pregnancies I got Cholestasis at 34 weeks. You can read more about it here http://itchymoms.com/. It pretty much sucked, I didn't sleep and I itched all the time. It was like bugs crawling in your skin itching, you couldn't get away from it. As a result Elyse was induced at 38 weeks and Levi at 37 (yes at home, and yes it took FOREVER!)

This pregnancy however I was determined to avoid the problem and enjoy my pregnancy to the end. So I have been seeing this lovely homeopath http://laurajosephson.com/ and the remedies that she has had me on have worked their magic and I have had no problems at all. Now I am still cautious and I haven't eaten any fried foods this whole pregnancy. But what I have eaten a lot of is FAT! Good for you fats like tons of raw yogurt, kefir, milk and cottage cheese, grassfed beef and eggs, loads of avocados and sprouted bread. I have also had a fresh dandelion smoothie everyday for over 3 months.

The other thing that I have been doing is working out like mad. I never changed my routine. I lifted the same amount of weights and did just as many jumping jacks, burpees and box jumps as before. (well actually these past 5 weeks I have been slowly getting more and more fatigued during classes so I am taking more breaks where now I feel like I have 20lb weights tied to my ankles) The only thing I changed were the abs and those I substituted with planks.

My other 2 pregnancies I didn't work out or eat that well, and as a result I was WAAY more tired and rundown.

I believe that my high good fat diet, seeing Laura and working out have contributed to me having TONS of energy and no liver problems. I feel so blessed that we had the means to hire Laura and eat the food we eat (and that I can stay at home and workout when I want to). If you've never researched the Weston Price diet you should check it out http://www.westonaprice.org/

I'm totally not trying to be smug and all look at me, but seriously this pregnancy has been amazing and I just wanna lettchall know bout it.

Disclaimer: This is not to say that I haven't been uncomfortable at times and boy I have never been hotter, my hands are like small ovens, but you get my point.
