Clarification

So apparently my last post was a bit confusing to some...or one.

Nee Nee is my little sister who is lovely. Not Nie Nie who was the girl that was in a plane crash last year.

We saw up with the fam, minus Nie Nie but with Nee Nee. It (the movie) was sad and I cried (at the movie).

I hope that helps the countless people who I have surely confused by my discombobulated story from below. (I hope *you* (as in *you* know who you are) sense the sarcasm.) But I still love you :)

Rain.

Its raining...again. BOO! On Thursday the news said that it has rained 14 out of 17 days.

On a happy note, NiNi(actually I'm not really sure how to spell it, it could be Nee Nee or Knee Knee or Ne Ne) is in town and we just got back from Up!. It was so sweet and I totally cried. I was also reminded why we don't go to the movies. Cha ching!

Happy Birthday Can!

Yes it is more than one week late, but better late than never.

Cannon turned 29, yet again this year. I think it was the third year in a row, so you do the math.

I had a whole fun day planned and his mom and dad are here to watch the kids, but it rained. Boo! We needed nice weather because my plan included riding on the scooter all day and going all over the city. I was very disappointed but not Can (which is so typical...darn positivity put a damper on my bad mood) Luckily it stopped raining by lunch and we were on our way.

The main attraction of the day were the Russian and Turkish Baths in the east village. It was heavenly. The main sauna was 220 degrees! To cool off you dump buckets of cold water on your head or you take a dip in the ICE cold pool just outside. And thankfully you must be wearing at least shorts if you are a man. I can't wait to go back. (hint hint Can)

Of course I forgot the camera, blast. It was just so nice to be out together cruisin around, so a BIG thank you to Gramma and Papa for taking care of the kiddies.

Cannon is such a great guy and I am so lucky to be married to him. He is so so giving and selfless. The kids and I always come first to him and he is so ready to forgive me for my faults...which are few I assure you.

He is sexy and sweet and to me that is the perfect combination, kind of like butter and salt :)

I love you Can!

Family night

Hey everybody its family night, its time to take the phone off the hook.

Does anyone else remember that song?

We got a great family home evening packet from our stake street fair. The first lesson was I am a Child of God. We sang the song and talked about how we are special and then we colored little people that represented ourselves.

I give you our family. Complete with very modest and oh so humble parents.

L and E

(Please click on the pictures to make them bigger)
Isn't Cannon's expression great?

Etheropian Food

Have any of you seen the episode of South Park where the Etheropian kid comes to their school? Well if not, its really funny and if you have then shame on you for watching South Park.

My best good soon to be long distance friend Amber and I made Ethiopian food separately together. It was delish! It is our favorite cuisine and it was fun to be able to make it better than they do. OK well it was almost as good. Lets be honest I would rather go to the restaurant, unless Amber wanted to make her egg dish for me.

Rally

A couple of months ago we participated in a rally protesting against overcrowding/no spots for rising kindergartners in our school system. It was very cool to see all of the parents band together for this important issue.

My kids were very involved.

As was this girl. But I'm not sure what what it had to do with the overcrowding.

First Crush

This is Kylie. She is Derek's mom. I think she is super cute. And so does L. So much so that he is quite infatuated with her.

He was incredibly upset and worried that She (and Derek of course) was on the Merry Go Round. (mostly because he was scared of it, but also because he loves her)

He gets embarrassed when I ask him about her...seriously? It starts already?

La Cucaracha

We had a water bug at the house last week. It was big and brown and I *almost* caught it but he squiggled away. Gheee. (thats for you Nicole) oh and I won't give you the details of how I caught it, I'll just say that it involved a jar and some chopsticks...and the radiator.

So when Cannon came home I told him all about the excitement of the evening. I left the room and when I came back this lovely was on my pillow.

I freaked out in a VERY girly way.

It was the perfect night for him to bring home a big, juicy, fake cockroach.

LC's

So because I promised to document all of the lovable crazies I see, I decided to call them LC's. Boy am I clever.

Here are some not so crazy but very lovable tap dancer/singers at Washington Square Park a few weeks ago. They were so talented and even tapped to their own rendition of All the Single Ladies, which they were singing (which I love even if the video is totally inappropriate/scandalous/slightly awkward to watch with other people around and made me blush when I saw it at the gym/seriously awesome and catchy.)

Summer Part II

NYC in the summer is a hoot. It certainly brings out the kooks, as evidenced by this guy at the Union Square market this week. I am going to try my hardest to take a picture of all the lovable crazies that I run across.

And YES there was money in the jar!

Summer!

Summer means GREENS! I am so excited for all of the beautiful greens from the farmer's market this summer. NYC farmer's markets are so amazing. My favorite stand is the Reiki lady (we call her that because she told me that she does Reiki on all of her veggies, I don't know how that is possible but they are mother scratchin good so I believe it) I could spend $50 bucks a week there. Her salad mix is divine and she even throws edible flowers in it.

The snap peas were so sweet and juicy and then later in the season she has these delightful little peppers that are so yummy sauteed with olive oil and salt.

As I was wandering through the market the other day I thought, I love this city, how could I ever live anywhere else? There is so much to do and see and taste, what a great place to live.

And then I remembered the winter. Scratch that.
