A visit

Gramma "Dubbie" and Papa came to visit! The kids love their grandparents SO much and had lots of fun with them. We hardly took any pictures, but here is a good idea of why.

Squirmy baby

Perfect. Oh wait Elyse has satan eyes.

This is Levi's face for when he doesn't believe you like "Kass...c'mon"

We are 0 for 4. But at least their visit is documented!

Here are some sweet ones with Gramma and Evan.

Dance Parade

We stumbled upon this dance parade that went through the east village. I love that you can just stumble upon something so awesome! It was quite the spectacle!

When we saw this woman Elyse said that maybe we should say "excuse me ma'am, but did you realize that your underwear is showing" or "ma'am did you know that I can see your bum?" It is so fun having an older daughter to joke around with.

Now this. This was my favorite part. Over the past couple of years I have seen this man randomly in the city and I have never been able to get a picture. I was thrilled that he was there today. And no, he is not dressed up for the dance parade. These are his everyday clothes.

And he doesn't just walk....he sashays!

So I normally don't post porno pics but I couldn't resist this one. Oh what? You mean she's not naked? You could've fooled me. Her bottoms were so low.....

They had this cool "ice rink" that was made out of plastic, not a lot of room for the girls to skate so I feared a collision, but really cool.

Happy Birthday Evan!!

It is hard for me to believe that one year has gone by since Evan was born and I was doing  this http://thecrunchyapples.blogspot.com/2011/08/birth-of-baby-anderson.html . For the first few months after he was born I would think about pushing him out (the hardest part for me) and think....youch! Now all I can remember was the beauty and joy I felt when he arrived. Evan's birth was an amazing experience for us all....I can't wait to do it again! (hopefully no time soon though :)

This year has just FLOWN by! It is so sad how fast time goes especially when I feel like I'm not enjoying every second like I should be. I feel like he should just barely be rolling over!

Some cute things Evan does: He started walking the first week of August. He took steps for about 7 weeks and finally just took the leap. And he goes non stop. Like the energizer bunny. It's fun, but exhausting! He says Nigh Nigh for nursing (which I call night nights...ok he said it one time but that counts right?) he says dada, ba and can I please have some more. Well not so much the last one, for that he just screams like a banshee** and as a banshee expert, let me tell you they scream LOUD! And since he has a hollow leg and eats non stop we hear this screaming a lot! To help him stop the screams I started tapping his mouth lightly, and he fake cries...ha! I say that he has a hollow leg because I don't know where else the food could possible go, he is SO skinny! He weighs about 20lbs but he is just so petite...I love it! The bonus of this is that he has been wearing all of the same clothes for months which is great :) He is quite the little babbler. I can usually pick out some real words in his babbling so we always joke that he is a genius baby ;)

**Side note: What is a Banshee? Is it actually something? Or is it a mythical creature that my lovely older sister (who shall remain nameless. But since I only have one older sister it shouldn't be too hard to guess who it is) made up to compare me to?

Notice how I did not put that he says Ma.....so so sad :(  He loves raw milk and raw goats milk (if I make it like egg nog because if you've ever had goats milk you know how....goaty it is) He loves to go out and if the door gets left open he will high tail it to the elevator! He is obsessed with the bathroom and will do anything to get in there and splash in the toilet. If we accidentally leave the door open he will pause at the door and wait for us to see him then he squeals and bolts in. He loves to dance and will start to bounce with any music and even a beat. The other day he was doing squats to the beat....that's our boy!! He loves Levi, I mean LOVES him! And Levi loves Evan. If Levi is freaking out and he accidentally bumps him he'll stop his screaming and say "oh sorry buddy" or if he sees Evan doing something cute he'll stop his crying and laugh and say "oh Evan that's so cute" If you even mention Dada he starts to get all frantic and excited...he loves his dad! He doesn't really play with toys at all because he is just too busy checking everything else out.

Evan has made me so excited to have more kids. I don't know if it's because I'm older and more mature or what but I just appreciate every little thing about this kid. He is just so sweet and cute and lovely. Happy Birthday my sweet little boy!

A list

I just found this entry that I never posted from back in February, even though it was 6 months ago not much has changed. Gus was adopted (woot!) I still have a tan (sweet!) Evan is still into everything (oy) I still love the sun and Evan has 6.5 teeth and I really want to call it quits with nursing....youch times 7! And on a side note, one year ago today was my due date with Evan. Time flies!! It is also my sister Beth Anne's birthday. She would have been 34!

The title is actually a list, not A list as in celebrity.

1. Crawling is a pain in my tookus!
2. Evan is into Everything.
3. I can't take my eyes off of him for 1 second.
4. The weather this winter has been amazing.
5. Miami was beautiful and I didn't want to ever leave!
6. I have a tan!
7. Gus yacked right in the middle of the Container store. Awesome.
8. Does anyone want to adopt my dog? For reals. (actually I'm serious) really.
9. I love the sun.
10. Evan has been crawling for a month but he can't sit up....
11. He has 6 teeth. All I have to say is youch!
12. I turn 20 (+10) in a week.

Update: Plastic use

Since I posted about the documentary Bag It I have been super cognizant of my plastic usage. And it SUCKS!! I thought that since I wasn't using grocery bags or produce bags that I was A-OK. Not so. EVERYTHING we buy comes in plastic! Trader Joe's is a plastic NIGHTMARE! Geesh! But what to do? I would love to buy bulk baby greens at Whole Foods but they don't sell organic ones so I buy the 1lb clamshell box. Strawberries, blueberries, nuts, chips, cheese, meat, chicken. It is ALL wrapped in plastic. So what am I to do? I feel terrible but I guess as long as I am doing all I can then that is all I can do. I do buy some stuff at the farmers market which reduces my plastic usage, but it is hard to find produce that is unsprayed and not ridiculously expensive. Ugh. We are doomed. Let us all just crawl into a hole and wait for us to keel over from toxic chemical overload and the earth to spew out chemical waste in the air and water. Sigh.

Queens farm

Oops I guess I kind of forgot about my blog for a bit! Things have been busy around here. Nee Nee came for a week, then left with Elyse for 2 weeks! Then Hyrum came for a week, Jenny and Ryan came for a few days, Maurice came for a night, I went to CT for a day and we went to the Hill Cumorah Pageant for a weekend!

This is an old post that I forgot to post. Levi and his class went to Queens Farm. It was the only field trip that I went on with his class because I couldn't bring Evan on the bus to any of the others.

WARNING: What follows is a very boring a pointless story so if you wish to see pictures of cuteness only and no narrative please skip to the photos. Thank you.

So to help me to be an active participant in my child's school life, Klara, (the cute boy at the bottom's mom) said that we could drive her car and go. The only problem is that Klara doesn't drive. No problem since I drive, problem how do I get my carseat to her house? So since Klara lives in Spanish Harlem I borrowed a carseat from a friend who lives 6 blocks away from there. I lug it to Klara's house (with Evan in the carrier and a backpack on my back with lunch and essentials) and then up 4 flights of stairs until they're ready then 3 more blocks to the car. We go to the farm and all is well but when we get back it's time to pick up Elyse, thankfully Klara wasn't in a hurry so we pick up Elyse, drop off the carseat, find a parking spot, (which only took a few minutes...thankfully!) park in said spot (which took many, many tries) hop on the subway and we're home by 4. So one field trip to a farm that is approximately 17 miles away took 7.5hrs of my life. Awesome.

Cute little Levi waiting for a pony ride.

Milking a cow!

Playing with some crazy looking chickens.
