E's 8th birthday

We have been talking about E's upcoming birthday for at least 11 months. What we were going to do, see and wear. The big plan was to see The Little Mermaid and when I mentioned it to my friend Becky a couple months back she politely informed me that I was a dunce and that the Little Mermaid was no longer running. AHH! So we quickly came up with plan B. We would try and *win tickets to Wicked every day and night the week before her birthday and if that didn't work out then we would buy the nosebleed tickets on Sat night (her bday was on a Sun)
*side note on the Wicked lottery. Before every performance they have a lottery where they draw 12 names. Each person picked gets 2 front row tickets for $26.

Anyway, Monday we trekked cross town where Can was able to meet us on his way home from work. When we walk up I thought it looked promising as there were no people there. Yeah, who knew that actors needed a night off? Doh!

Tuesday Karley even rushed over in a cab to meet us there on time and dang nabbit. The show was at 7 instead of 8 so the lottery was an hour earlier!! AHH.

Wednesday we went for the matinee and the night one and the people who were in line behind us just happened to be in our ward and they won tickets....for the second time that week.

Thursday E was spastic and got punished so we didn't go and then on Friday I just plain old didn't want to go. I was sick of the freeeezing cold walks across town through touristville.

Saturday matinee no luck then on Saturday night since my family was coming for E's baptism I told them to be at 50th and 8th at 530 sharp so we could have more luck in getting someones name called. FINALLY they called Can's name. Man were we glad!

As you can tell :)

Best pic outta 5 :) Flash and this girl do NOT agree!

Front row seats for $26 each, not too shabby. It was so priceless to watch her reaction throughout, she was in heaven and still talks about it even now. Oh and we listen to the soundtrack all the time :)

hmm...

I just noticed the post below that I have no recollection of. I must have posted it in my Liz Lemon like state of sleep. (if you don't watch 30 rock then never mind.)

Let me explain because this picture is pretty hilarious. E has been dying for some glasses but we haven't been able to find any that aren't for people who um, actually need them. So my mom's mission before they came up here for her Bday was to find some non prescription glasses. The only ones she could find were at the dollar store, and they well, uh, were these. E was so excited to have some glasses and was very stoked at the idea of wearing them to school. Until she actually got to school where everyone called her Harry Potter. And wouldn't you know those glasses came home broken that very day.

New Years eve

I am always a month (or 2) behind. Get over it.

The highlight of the night for L was the sparkling cider.

We went to see the ICE exhibit in DC while there. It was pretty "cool" haha. Everything was made of ice.

If you can blow the above picture up, do it and look at E's expression. I was hysterical, like laughing so hard I was crying, hysterical.

We thought we'd tempt fate.
Mia and I. Or is it me and Mia?

Acting like a penguin......

Nativity made out of ice.

typos

I was just reading through some old posts and I realized how many typos there are and duplicate pictures and no links where links should have appeared. Dang, thanks for hanging in there with me, I will try and proofread some more :)

NOVA snow....

This is the view, in northern VA, from my parents front door. It looks like the astro van is mini! We only got a few inches of great snowball snow, which is now thankfully lovely slush. Slush is always good fun, especially when it freezes and you have to walk really slow so you don't wipe out.

Myrna

I forgot to post this article when I found it last week posted by another ward member on Facebook. It is about a beautiful sister in my ward, Myrna. She is always smiling and always positive and looking up. I'm so glad they did a story about her.

Nee Nee is published!

Isn't she purty?

My cute sister Lillian who recently turned 14 submitted some writing to a teen website and they put it on their site! I am so proud of her! It literally made me cry reading her stuff, it seems like she was just so little and now she is growing up.

Our New Years trip to DC

My dad came from DC to NY for business on the Monday after xmas and took E back with him that same night. We joined them on New Years eve day, which started off like this:
Oh cute! A couple of flakes, this should be fun while we wait for the bus! (and yes Can Man is holding a purse)

Uh Oh! Its getting heavier, now I will be really entertained and will even be super cute and laugh!

Aww crap, its gonna be a long day.

We're not going anywhere....for a loong time.

No worries, I'll just take a snooze. I'll even be really nice to my mom by sleeping on my arm and not be a dead weight in her arms for 3 hours....I'll save that for the ride home. (and he did)

Photo shoot with K dawg

My friend Karley, aka K dawg, did a photo shoot of L and I. She is a great photographer and always lovingly tells me when the picture turned out ugly and we need another :)

Totally unrelated, but another cute Karley pic.
