Thanksgiving

My family drove down to be with us for Thanksgiving! We had a great time and some yummy food!

We went to see Hunger games and when I asked Hyrum (15) to hold my purse I couldn't resist snapping this photo!

Goodbye party

Levi had a going away party 2 days before we left with his cute friends. He was so sad to leave them, but he has been a trooper and despite his reluctance has made some great new friends here.

Last meal

Our favorite restaurant was Meskrem Ethiopian in the West Village. We went there a few weeks before we moved for one last meal. I posted this on instagram and everyone groused and said it looked like poopy throw up. Well it's dang good poopy throw up that we miss terribly!

Heritage

One day we went blueberry picking in NJ (way back last summer) and we happened to drive by this house. I wasn't even looking but Can said "hey isn't that your Aunt's house?" This was my grandmother's childhood home. My Aunt Francis lived in it until she died in about 2002. The last time we went there was when Elyse was 5 months old. We went right after Laura died on a 3 day trip so I brought Elyse 3 changes of clothes and approximately 5 diapers, why would I need more? This is why 19 year olds shouldn't have kids.

This house is actually really interesting. My great grandfather married his wife when she was 13 and he much much older. They had 13 kids and kept expanding on this house, which ended up being quite a creepy maze of a house. They were Italian immigrants who wanted to keep their heritage a secret so they changed their last name and didn't teach their kids the language or customs. My dad actually found out this story when he was a small child. He was exploring the basement when he came across a headstone with the name "Sagaricci" on it. He asked enough questions until someone gave him the answer. So strange to think you would keep your background a secret.

It was pretty cool to see since I had come here ever since I was a small child and I didn't think I'd ever see it again.  It was sold a few years ago but it looks just the same.
