My cute kiddie started 1st grade! SO I guess I am officially old...boo.
So we are in a new school this year. Its a long story that you can read here
I really didn't think that the school was that bad, but if its in the paper it must be true.
So the first day of school on a new city block was INSANE! Its on a smaller street so its about half the sidewalk space of 57th.... I'm sure all the old crotchety NY'ers will be calling 311 complaining about all the people and the noise. Anywhooo....since there is NO room in the new school we couldn't even take our kid to her new room and meet her new teachers, I have never been anxious about school before, but not seeing her get settled in made me feel unsettled.
So after school we were going to have a little water park celebration. For all of you non NY'ers that means going to play in the sprinkler at the park. Sad but true. Well really not so sad because the kids have so much fun. Well it turned out that the sprinkler was turned off! Bummer. So I was talking to my friend Natalia about colon cleansing and such...in case you don't click on the link Natalia is a die hard Raw foodist/nutritionist/colon cleanser etc. So right before I started talking to her I made a plan with my friend to meet at Buttercup which is SOOO much better than Magnolia and not even in the same sphere as the schookenblechy Crumbs. Anywhoo...in Natalia's world Buttercup would be a no no. Really there is no point to this story other than to say I was too embarrased to tell her that we were going there and had to whisper in E's ear that we would be getting a treat if she could be patient for a few minutes while we talked. Lame right? Why should I care what she thinks? Well I do because I know she's right...but I went on to have the most incredible banana pudding EVER! E ordered her own cupcake...she loves to order stuff and act like an adult : ) I was feeling so generous even L got a cupcake....with a teensy bit of frosting. We can induldge every once in a while especially on the first day of first grade. PS my friend Meredith makes the same cupcakes for many class events...this is our 3rd year with her daughter Ruby in the class!!

You are soooo funny! I love your stories!
If you're old, then I'm ancient. I use to babysit you and you have a kindergardener! My oldest isn't even 3 yet!
Ok, so I saw 20/20 on "raw" diets and it was pretty scary what happens to people who are die hards......I'm all about being healthy, but isn't there a balance?

hey kas - indulge all you want - at least before menopause!
yes...all those photos are mine...thank you very much and that bench was in a garden we went to in paris...thank you very much!
You can have cupcakes at school??? and HOME MADE no less????? My kids would be sooo jealous!
Here in the great state of Alabama where we rank 48 or 49th in the country in neonatal and maternal mortality, and education isn't so great sometimes either, we are at the bottom (or should I say top) of the list in health. We have one of the highest obesity levels? and perhaps chilchood obesity? anyway they decided (at least in our school district), that we can't have any food (that isn't carrot sticks and celery) for birthdays or class party's. And IF you have a time where you can actually bring sugar/unhealthy snacks/treats in to the classroom they can NOT be home made! They have to be in a store bought container so that you can't contaminate anyone! Oh brother!!!! They have also taken salt out of the lunch rooms, etc. since it could cause heart issues in obese people. Sometimes they just go overboard on things! This Buttercup place sounds delightful! Don't feel guitly! ;-)
I enjoyed reading your blog!
